Lido di Ostia
One of the favorite seaside resorts of the Romans, thanks to the strategic proximity to the capital: there are only thirty, in fact, the kilometers that separate the center of Rome from Ostia. And to the traffic of via Ostiense, when the summer arrives, many prefer to move by train, the locals call it Freccia del Mare, which from Porta San Paolo/ Piramide reaches the coast in half an hour.
SURROUNDINGS / PLACES OF INTEREST
Among the many things to do in the surrounding area, we suggest:
• A walk along the seafront that can be reached in a few minutes on foot, up to the Tourist Port of Rome, a place full of shops and restaurants; approximately 1,200 meters of promenade (with cycle path) leading to the seafront; over 10,000 m2 of exhibition areas; a 750-seat amphitheater;
• A few minutes from the port you can also reach the Lipu Natural Park, where you can admire, for photography enthusiasts, various species of birds;• Scooter rental right in front of Piazza AncoMarzio, to take advantage of the new cycle path that connects the Marina to the Rotonda;
• A walk in the delightful village of Ostia Antica and a visit to the Castle of Julius II, a high example of Renaissance military architecture, reachable by bus in about 15/20 min.;• Also in Ostia Antica, a visit to the excavations is a must which, together with Pompeii, is one of the largest archaeological sites in the world (www.ostiaantica.beniculturali.it);
• A visit to the skate park: located in via dellaMartinica, about 2km away. The structure stands on an area of 1,600 square meters, a work of the highest level, one of the largest in Europe for this category, where you can practice both skateboarding and other playground sports and urban art activities;

• Lega Navale sailing school on the seafront;
• A few minutes’ walk takes you to the F3 Sporting Club sports centre, which offers a wide range of courses for the whole family, paddle and tennis courts.
